One of the core objectives of Data without Boundaries is to promote the use of integrated official statistics in Europe. The Data without Boundaries project seeks to inform the research community on possibilities for application and the potential for social enquiry of official European microdata.

To this aim Data without Boundaries, in cooperation with Eurostat, is organizing a series of three-day training courses on integrated Eurostat datasets. Courses provide information on available microdata in Europe as well as ways to access these data.

This fourth course focussed on the European Union Labour Force Survey (EU‐LFS). The training was hosted by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia and the Social Science Data Archives at the University of Ljubljana; other partners involved in this course were Eurostat (Luxembourg), GESIS‐Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences (Mannheim), Réseau Quetelet (Paris) and INSEE‐Institut National de la Statistique et des Etudes Economiques (Paris).

The course was aimed at post graduate and senior researchers from throughout Europe who are seeking to conduct research on the basis of the EU‐LFS. Besides highlighting the legal and administrative aspects of data access, it demonstrated the possibilities of the EU‐LFS in a hands‐on computer session which explored the potential for both international as well as longitudinal analysis.

Details of the programme can be found below. Slideshows and exercise sheets made can be directly downoaded by clicking on the URLs.
